The 2 Kingdom Model offers Believers a way to delineate between the Kingdom God established and the kingdom ruled by the enemy. It enables us to live blessed and productive lives in Christ, just as humanity did in the Garden of Eden before sin.
I use this model/illustration to support the foundation of my teachings, writings, coaching, and Biblical counseling. My approach presents a clear picture of the choices we make every day. We can either choose to live the abundant life wherein Christ made us free in God’s Kingdom Above the Line, or succumb to the temptations of the world system Below the Line.
The Battle For Ruler-ship
Since the serpent deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, humanity has been grappling with the forces of evil that aim to separate us from God and strip us of our purpose. However, God desires us to have a life of abundance and fulfillment, as John 10:10 states:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
But, the World System seeks to pull us away from God’s Kingdom and lead us astray.
That’s why the “2 Kingdom Model” is so important. It highlights the two distinct paths we can choose from – the Kingdom of God “Above the Line” and the World System “Below the Line.” By choosing the path of God’s Kingdom, we can lead a life of purpose, joy, and fulfillment, and resist the forces of evil that seek to separate us from God.
The World System – Below the Line
The serpent deceived humanity by obscuring their vision of God’s original Kingdom. By listening to the lies of the serpent, humanity deviated from the truth, falling from the glory of God Above the Line, and surrendering their ruler ship to Satan. Satan, who sought to take God’s throne and still roams the earth, has blinded the eyes of those who do not believe and tries to lure God’s children Below the Line.
1 Peter 5:8 reads, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
As we analyze the model, we can see that the buildings and windows Below the Line are distorted, and the person walking is moving towards fear instead of faith. Although both perspectives may seem attractive at first, the World System’s appearance is infused with deceptive.
Living Below the Line is like walking through a glass house at a carnival, aimlessly wandering into fake walls until finding the correct opening. Without continually following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our spiritual journey may be filled with deadly obstacles. To navigate this path successfully, we need clear guidelines.
The consequences of living Below the Line are severe, resulting in physical and spiritual death. Pursuing things outside of God’s kingdom contradicts His will. The characteristics of those living Below the Line include walking by sight, being led by the soul and senses, focusing on circumstances, operating in fear, harboring unforgiving hearts, being absorbed by selfish desires, and displaying disobedient behaviors. In simple terms, it means operating by human wisdom.
Kingdom of God - Above the Line
In the Garden of Eden, God created His Kingdom with a divine purpose and plan. Man, created in God’s image, was originally positioned to enjoy all the benefits of His provision as he worshipped and obeyed God, while having ruler-ship over the earth. However, as a result of man’s disobedience to God, he was cast out of the Garden and the Kingdom of God. A new system, the kingdom of darkness or the world system emerged. Yet, there was hope. Through the sacrificial atonement of Jesus Christ, God provided a way for us to choose His Kingdom and live Above the Line. By believing in Him and confessing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become citizens of God’s Kingdom, embarking on a journey Above the Line.
As citizens of the Kingdom of God, our desires are aligned with God’s desires. We walk by faith, forgive ourselves and others, love God by loving others at all times, and trust only Word of God.
Choosing the Kingdom of God means building our lives on a firm foundation – the Word of God, the finished work of the Cross, advancing the Kingdom of God, and living the abundant life that Christ has made us free to live. Through this choice, we can experience the wonders God has in store for us, both in this life and the next.
Embracing the 2 Kingdom Model
Remember: every day, we have a choice to make. We can either serve God’s Kingdom Above the Line or succumb to the temptations of the world system Below the Line. By choosing to live Above the Line, God can renew and restore our lives so that we enjoy blessed and productive lives just as humanity did in the Garden.
